PRP and PRF therapy at Bravo MedSpa Connecticut

Quick answer

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) are autologous growth-factor concentrates drawn from your own blood — used at Bravo MedSpa to amplify RF microneedling results, restore hair density, and rejuvenate under-eyes.

Sessions are performed by Diana Lee under medical director oversight. Most clients run a 3-session series spaced 4–6 weeks apart. PRF is the newer, second-generation product — higher fibrin, slower release, often our default.

Why clients book PRP or PRF

When you want your own biology doing the healing.

No foreign product. No preservatives. Your blood, spun, and the platelet-rich layer returned to where you want regeneration. The simplest regenerative idea in medicine.

01

Your hair is thinning and you want a non-drug option

Early androgenetic alopecia responds well to PRP scalp injections. No finasteride, no minoxidil commitment — just growth factors to thickening follicles.

02

Dark under-eye circles and thin skin

The under-eye zone is too thin for most HA filler. PRF injected in a cannula-precise pattern thickens the skin and lightens discolouration over 3 sessions.

03

You want your RF microneedling result amplified

Topical PRP during microneedling doubles the collagen response in clinical studies. Our Series + PRP plan is Bravo's highest-performing skincare combination.

04

Acne scarring that filler and laser didn't fully solve

PRP + RF microneedling in the same session addresses deep dermal scar remodelling in a way either tool alone cannot match.

How it works

Autologous growth factors, precisely placed.

01

Blood draw (10 mL)

Small volume drawn from the arm, like a routine lab. Takes under 5 minutes. Sterile centrifuge tubes collect the sample.

02

Centrifuge separation

The blood is spun at a specific speed. This separates plasma from red cells and concentrates platelets. PRP uses anticoagulants; PRF uses no additives and forms a gentle fibrin matrix.

03

Application or injection

The platelet-rich layer is either injected (scalp, under-eye) or applied topically during microneedling. Growth factors trigger fibroblast activity and neocollagenesis.

The numbers

Your blood. Your growth factors.

PRP/PRF is the cleanest regenerative medicine on the menu — because there is no foreign material entering your body.

Treatment applications

Skin, scalp, under-eye — where PRP/PRF outperforms.

With RF microneedling

Topical PRP applied during and after microneedling. Dramatically amplifies collagen response. Our Series + PRP plan.

Scalp (hair restoration)

PRP injected in a grid pattern across the scalp. 3 sessions + quarterly maintenance for ongoing results. Works best for early-stage thinning.

Under-eye (tear trough)

PRF-only for under-eye. Thickens crepey skin, improves pigmentation, supports weak tear-trough anatomy. Cannula placement.

Acne scar series

PRP + RF microneedling with deep-zone focus. 4–6 sessions over 6 months. Often pairs with TCA cross for ice-pick scars.

What happens at your session

The Bravo PRP/PRF protocol.

01

Blood draw + consent

First visit: medical history, consent, and IV-style blood draw (10–20 mL). Nurse-drawn, same as a routine lab test.

02

Centrifuge processing (8 min)

Tubes spun in the treatment room during your topical numbing. The platelet-rich layer is isolated and drawn into an injection syringe.

03

Numbing application

Topical numbing cream for skin zones (20–45 min depending on zone). Scalp injections done with only minor numbing — the scalp tolerates well.

04

Treatment application

Microneedling application if skin zone; direct injection with cannula or needle if scalp or under-eye. Session time varies by zone (15–60 min).

05

Post-care protocol

Skin zones follow microneedling aftercare. Scalp zones: no wash 24 hours, no heat for 48h. Under-eye: ice and sleep elevated.

06

Follow-up at 4–6 weeks

Next session booked. Progress photos at each visit. Skin clients often alternate PRP microneedling with DiamondGlow monthly.

Results timeline

When PRP/PRF shows up.

1

Day 0

Session 1

Draw, spin, apply or inject. Mild swelling 24–48h. Back to normal activity immediately.

2

First glow

Week 2–4

Skin clients: glow and texture improvement. Hair clients: too early to see change. Under-eye: slight thickening visible.

3

Weeks 6–12

Session 2–3

Full series running. Cumulative response building. Hair density starting to improve in scalp series.

4

Peak

Month 6

Full collagen / growth-factor response evident. Hair restoration clients show 20–40% density increase from baseline photos.

5

Maintenance

Quarterly

Scalp clients continue quarterly for ongoing response. Skin clients maintain annually with RF microneedling + PRP top-ups.

Eligibility

Autologous means fewer eligibility constraints.

Who it's for

  • RF microneedling clients wanting amplified result
  • Early-stage hair thinning (ideally not full pattern baldness)
  • Under-eye clients not suited to HA filler
  • Acne scarring with a deep dermal component
  • Clients uncomfortable with foreign injectable products
  • Regenerative medicine-minded clients

Not right for

  • Blood disorders, platelet dysfunction
  • Active cancer or recent chemotherapy
  • Anticoagulant therapy (case-by-case)
  • Active skin infection in the treatment zone
  • Pregnancy (case-by-case, usually deferred)
  • Severe immunosuppression

The elegance of PRP and PRF is that we're not adding anything to your body that your body didn't already make. We're concentrating what's already yours and putting it where it's needed. Clean biology.

Hartford & Rocky Hill

Connecticut's regenerative option.

PRP and PRF have moved from boutique treatment to mainstream over the last 5 years. At Bravo we use it most heavily in two contexts: amplifying RF microneedling (our Series + PRP plan) and hair restoration for early-stage thinning.

PRF specifically — the additive-free second-generation version — is our default for under-eye and scar work. Slower growth factor release means a longer therapeutic window and better fibrin structure.

PRP / PRF Therapy

Common questions

PRP (first generation) uses anticoagulant in the tube and a faster centrifuge protocol. PRF (second generation) is additive-free and spins slower — resulting in a fibrin matrix that releases growth factors gradually over 7–14 days. PRF is our default for under-eye and scar work; PRP is our default for microneedling and scalp.
